Beautifull place, on one side you have a beach, on the other side there's the jungle. And the people were also very friendly. I really enjoyed my stay here.

I really enjoyed my stay at Turtle Beach Lodge. The food, the service, the bar, the tours, the nature, everything was up to my expectations. Also, took a lot of photos of birds, lizards, insects, and monkeys, I didn't have to go far from the property, they are just right there.A crocodile was just there greeting us at the entrance of the hotel, do not worry, is not that big and even, and it seems he likes to pose for your photos. The beach is just some steps away from the room. They have these hammocks below the roof all over the place where you can take a delicious nap. The staff, from the boat driver to the cleaning staff was very kind and polite. The tour I enjoyed most was the one that took us to a lagoon where you can do kayaking.Still, you should take one or two things into consideration before deciding if it is your place to go: What kind of place Tortuguero? The place is still a jungle. Hard to access, full of mangroves, swamps, and no roads at all. The only way to move around the place is on a boat. That is the reason this is still one of the few places in Central America where you can find hundreds if not thousands of species of animals, birds, insects, and plants.Do not expect huge hotels and big buildings.Everything here was constructed in a way it could interfere less possible with nature. The people who decided to build accommodations here, made them think about nature first so humans can enjoy views of animals and plants without even walking that much.So rooms could look simple compared with hotels located in other tourist spots of the Caribbean. You should take some snacks if you are the kind of person that eats between meals. The hotel counts with first aid stuff, umbrellas, and raincoats, but it won't hurt you if you take some medicine for your head or stomach in your backpack, just in case. So, if you realize Tortuguero isn't Cancun, this isn't some highly crowded beach city, and adjust your expectations to get the experience of being in the middle of nature, you will never forget Tortuguero for good reasons. It is a place that makes you feel part of the universe.

Turtle beach lodge is located in the Tortuguero National Park only accessible via boat. We had a pleasant stay here during our Costa Rica visit. The nature that surrounds here with abundance of wildlife is truly amazing. Our guide Fernando who stayed with us for two days here was a biologist himself and very knowledgeable individual.Look if you are to complain about the muddy jungle walk or torrential rain and the rustic room setting and no air conditioning then I’d like to suggest not coming to stay in the middle of a rain forest. Stay in some beach resort and sip unlimited margaritas whole day long. But if you are to enjoy nature and see wild life by getting your feet dirty or experience giant green sea turtle nesting in the beach (if you lucky enough) in the middle of night then Costa Rica is your place. Pura Vida!
