GUIDED CANAL OF PALMS TOUR

The black waters of the lodge’s private canal and the Canal of Palms is caused by the tannins from certain trees that grow in the area. The canal waters flow slowly, which cause a mirror image reflection of the lush foliage. The effect is quite dramatic every time one rides along the canals.

The colors along the lodge’s private canal changes with the dry and rainy season.
The Turtle Beach Lodge Guided Canal Tour is slow paced, leaving lots of opportunity for asking questions, spotting wildlife, and pondering the magic.

The sights and sounds vary from day to day, along with the time of the day. Wildlife is active early in the morning, while a sunny afternoon is perfect to find fresh water turtles, caimans, and lizards sunning on logs along the banks of the canals.
Birds are present all day, every day.

This sloth moves so slowly that he would be hard to spot, except that he always can be found in a certain kind of tree. Our guides keep an eye out for the wildlife that are not easily found in other parts of the world.

There is a lagoon nearby of incredible beauty. It is also an easy walk by beach from the lodge, or kayak trip.

Bring a camera, a bottle of water, and join us.
