The excursions start as you leave the Turtle Beach Lodge dock. Caimans, Iguanas, lizards, monkeys, turtles, birds & butterflies can often be seen on the ride up our canal and along Caño Palma the short distance to the Biological Research Station.

Guest researchers visit the station for varying amounts of time to do the research there. They keep a supply of boots for the researchers to use when they venture into the jungle there.
This is the Fer-de-lance, one of the poisonous snakes found in this region. It is kept safely in a cage at the Research Station.
A wide variety of orchids can be found in the yard at the Research Station.
The jungle trails at the Biological Research Station provide ample opportunity for seeing and photographing nature, like this spider crawling on the tree, covered with a network of vines.
