ON-SITE ACTIVITIES

Our authentic dugout canoe, kayaks, and private canal are at your disposal to give you a one-of-a-kind view of the rainforest, its colorful birds and insects, reptiles, mammals, and aquatic life.

Horseback riding within the grounds or along our private beach front is a favorite among the many lodge activities.
Green Turtles nest by the thousands June through September. Luckily for Turtle Beach Lodge guests, turtles’ nests can often be found right on the property’s half mile of beach. The baby turtles hatch from July through early November.

Whether walking, playing in the surf with friends or trying a kayak, the beach is usually a fun part of every guest’s day.
Do you enjoy fishing? Guests can surf-fish on the beach, or fish the canals with one of our guides.

Arrangements can also be made to fish for Tarpon, Snook, Mackerel and other larger fish in the Tortuguero River or Caribbean Sea.

Is this guest reading or fishing? Fishing or reading? Who cares! He’s on vacation …no meetings, no deadlines …. no problems.

It’s hard to beat a little time spent in the pool: a little game of Sharks & Minnows … some water aerobics … relaxing on a raft … it’s all good!

Board or card games are popular with children and adults alike.

Croquette, or Bocce Ball in the yard is a great way to meet fellow travelers and have some fun.
The Guided Garden Tour seems to get high marks from everyone. It is an interesting blend of identification of plants, their place in the eco-structure, and the local beliefs about the plants.

While the Guided Jungle Tour is an excellent way to learn how to get the most out of the jungle experience, returning to the jungle trails without a guide provides excellent photo opportunities, time to study what you find interesting, or just to meander in an environment few of us live in.

Most of the other lodges in the Tortuguero area come to Cano Palma, The Canal of Palms, for a brief but breathtaking view of the black water canals with their mirror image reflections, and a wide variety of wild life. It is your address at Turtle Beach Lodge. A Guided Canal Tour or a private excursion in a canoe or kayak allows you to spend all the time you desire. The magic starts at the dock.

A photographer’s delight! Turtle Beach Lodge has carefully landscaped grounds and gardens for our guests to enjoy. The flowers are unusual, abundant, and of a wide variety.

Although flowers hold still longer for the photographer, photo opportunities also abound right on the property for photographing butterflies, frogs, spiders, lizards, monkeys, all kinds of birds, sunsets & sunrises ….. the list goes on. Be sure to look at the Guest Photo Gallery for some amazing pictures.

This photographer took photos all day, with lots of help, and showed them to all the guests in the bar during the evening on a laptop slide show.

Rain or shine, the spirit of fun and adventure is always with you at Turtle Beach Lodge.
